Bilingual English–German portal for choosing a university and study program, with program search, an admission chance calculator, comparison, student profiles and a forum.
The client needed a mobile- and SEO-friendly portal in English and German, filled with thousands of universities and programs from day one. We built the portal, the admin panel that runs it and the parsers that collect the catalogue.
Built from the client’s prototype: a de / en switch on every page, a global search bar (“What do you want to study? / Where?”), filter panels and program cards that show the admission chance, a comparison table and a profile with notifications, comparisons and favorites.
A catalogue of 551 universities and 1,957 programs in a category tree. We wrote parsers that visit source websites, go through their search forms and export universities and programs to CSV for import. The admission chance calculator weighs citizenship, degree, average grade, IELTS, TOEFL, DSH or TestDaF, GMAT, recommendations and work experience into low, medium or high, with a separate rule for medical faculties.
An admin panel for countries, cities, universities, programs, categories, deals, scholarships, users and roles, plus the forum, blog, messages, static pages, FAQ, testimonials, ads, the home slider and a translation editor for every interface string in both languages.
Search by subject and place, with filters for category, city, study mode (campus, distance or combined), admission chance, language, degree and fee. Every result card shows the student’s admission chance — low, medium or high.
Registered users compare up to four programs side by side — fee, duration, language, admission chance and location — and can scroll, sort, add or remove columns.
A profile with settings, forum notifications, saved comparisons and favorites. The user menu gives quick access to selected programs and the dashboard.
An overview for the team: users, universities, programs, deals, scholarships, forum subjects and replies, news, and server stats — CPU, RAM, cache and uploads.
A category tree — for example Economics → Business Administration — that groups the programs for search and filters.
Every interface string is edited side by side in English and German right in the admin panel, grouped by page section.
Users with status, role and registration date, with export. The panel also runs countries, cities, universities, deals, the forum, blog, messages, static pages, FAQ, testimonials, ads and the home slider.
