The task was to move the whole application process online — from matching a student with programs to a submitted, paid application.
We designed the data model, the search and the student journey, and built the platform on Laravel behind Cloudflare.
A step-by-step wizard instead of one long form, program cards that show degree, faculty, language, location, duration, start date and yearly fee at a glance, and dependent dropdowns (country → city, discipline → major) that keep the filters short. The layout is responsive down to phones.
A Laravel back end with a jQuery front end. The catalogue links countries, cities, universities, disciplines and programs — more than 8,900 programs from 530+ universities. Search runs on the server with 13 filters, keyword search, sorting by date or price and pagination, and every program has its own readable URL.
Students collect programs in a “My Programs” basket even before signing up — the list and the counter in the header update over AJAX. Sign-in leads straight to a four-step checkout: test scores, documents uploaded per country, the contract and card payment. Each application then gets a status the student follows in their account. Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Google Maps and WhatsApp are integrated.
A multi-step wizard (jQuery SmartWizard) collects the study level, country, education, GPA, major, work experience and language scores one question at a time. It converts grades between 100- and 4-point scales and checks IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT and German test scores (TestDaF, telc, DSH) as they are typed.
The home page lists the most popular study countries with the number of programs in each. Every card opens the program search already filtered by that country through a URL parameter.
Server-side search with 13 filters — location, price range, IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE and GMAT scores, degree, GPA, work experience, discipline and major. Filters travel as URL parameters, so any search can be bookmarked or shared.
Each program has its own URL and tabs for details, requirements and scholarships: degree, credits, language, duration, start date, deadlines, minimum IELTS, TOEFL and GPA, and the yearly fee — with Apply Now and “add to My Programs” buttons.
Registration with name, contact details, date of birth and a nationality field with autocomplete. Sign-in opens in a modal and works over AJAX without a page reload, with password recovery by email.
The checkout starts with the student’s previous degree and English or German test scores — IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, TestDaF, telc and DSH — and shows the application contract the student accepts before paying.
The required documents change with the destination country — each upload slot comes with an example file to download. The last step takes the card type (Visa or Mastercard) and confirms the payment; the summary shows the service fee for each selected program.
A personal account with the profile, password change and the applied programs. Every application moves through statuses — received, in evaluation, conditional offer, denied or confirmed — and the counters update as the team reviews it.
A directory of partner universities from 37 countries, filtered by country and searched by name, each with its logo and a short profile.
